Description

This report, Who is Visiting Canada’s Museums?, is based on a national 2021 “Museums for Me” survey conducted by Reconsidering Museums (led by Alberta Museums Association and partners). It analyzes demographic participation patterns—highlighting age, income, education, geography, ethnicity, gender, and parenting status—and identifies that museum attendance is higher among younger, urban, educated, and higher-income Canadians. It also reveals lower engagement among Indigenous peoples and older adults, underscoring barriers like relevance, accessibility, and cost.
